In 2024, the Planning department was weaponized by a single complainant who issued nearly 200 complaints. The residents of East Greeley simply want to be left alone and re-zoned to agricultural to retain as much of rural lifestyle they've had for 40 years.

Instead, at January 29th work session, a director talks about giving them environmental justice so they have pride in their neighborhood and learn how to live. And Perry Buck mocks me for representing my constituents. I worked very hard with two other neighborhoods to zone them back to agriculture after the complaint process was weaponized.

With over 195 petition signatures, this neighborhood is asking for the same process that Commissioners have done before per county code, including a neighborhood with discontinuous lots, Seemore Heights, where Weld waived the fees. This East Greeley neighborhood is full of elderly residents on fixed income, they can't afford the 10K-30K fees being lobbied to dissuade them in this process.

After I brought up code 23-2-10 and Seemore Heights in a neighborhood meeting, Chair Ross admitted they could all go on one application and split fees.

But the director insisted on giving residents false information instead of helping the neighborhood. Community meetings were not called or noticed until I intervened.

New rules were invented so that I can't talk at community meetings, punished by unknown penalties according to the County Attorney for bringing up our own law and factual legal County precedent.

Residents have called it "a nightmare"-- terrified they will have to get rid of horses and businesses and "feeling exhausted" by this director giving them the run-around for the last six months.

The residents of East Greeley do deserve justice for harrassment from their government, not environment justice.
